This is a nice return to form for Watley, who was a chart topper in the late '80s. The r&b vocalist mixes up some percolating pop along with quiet storm ballads on the 12 tracks. The former vocalist for Shalamar still has a delicious voice. Understatement takes precedence. On the musical front, her producers - Tony Toni Tone's D'Wayne Wiggins and Groove Theory's Bryce Wilson - let the grooves breathe. There are a couple of bum cuts including "16," which strives for social statement, but goes unrealized. Don't miss Rakim's uncredited performance on the bonus remix of the flavor to savor "Off the Hook." Solid pop. (Grade: B+)
