Lights ! Camera ! Jody In The Spotlight...
A headline concert tour is not yet in the works, but a major media campaign is underway for Jody Watley. She has been a guest on several talk shows, including RuPaul and Keenan Ivory Wayans. This month she will also be a guest on the Rosie O'Donnell Show, as well as Regis and Kathy Lee.

Watley has gotten major exposure as an awards presenter on the American Music Awards, and she has been doing a lot of radio and small concert tours around the country. And of course we will be seeing plenty of Jody in the April issue of Playboy.

This kind of exposure is quite common for artists on the verge of releasing major projects. In this case, Jody's new album "Flower" not only needs pre-release publicity, but she herself needs to be seen. Jody has been out of the "pop" spotlight for quite sometime and this sort of "re-introduction" to the public is very important-- especially if she wants her album to be a commercial success.

Keep in mind, the last time Jody was really big on the scenes was during 1989-90, after the release of her top-selling album "Larger Than Life." Jody's subsequent MCA Records releases were not big commercial gigs. She hopes to change that with "Flower", her Atlantic Records debut.

Update: Jody Does Playboy in April Issue
It's confirmed. Jody Watley will appear in Playboy magazine's April 1998 issue. Jody will be showing plenty of skin, but won't reveal "all". So what will she show ? Buy the magazine and find out !

So how does Jody feel about all this exposure she will be getting ? Uh... pardon me...giving ? Well, Jody seems to think it's just fine, and believes that as long as her photo shoot is done in good taste (as it will be), many people will be receptive to it.

After this issue is released, Jody will have been only one of a handful of African-American women who have graced the pages of the popular Playboy magazine.

And as we can recall, Jody's little sister Michelle (a.k.a. "Midori") is one of the rising stars in the adult entertainment industry. However, Midori does a little bit more than just reveal herself in her line of work-- if you get the picture.
