A "Flower" Is About to Bloom...Hopefully Soon OK, so maybe "Off The Hook" was just a way to show the public that she was back on the scene and not as old Jody, but as the sultry songstress that she is. But maybe the public perception is that she still is the "dance diva", as she is sometimes still labeled. Who cares ? We want the new material now ! I guess it's not that easy, and folks one thing you should know -- the music industry is a fickle one indeed. And when you mix in politics and the pursuit of the bottom line, things get even more interesting. Case in point: the forthcoming album release from Jody Watley. "Flower" was supposed to have been released in January, then February, then March, and now we don't even know for sure. But don't panic, it most likely will be released in June-- so the rumor goes. But why all the delays ? And how about all those reviews of "Flower" that have been spreading like wildfire (i.e. People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Washington Post, etc.) And how about all those talk shows and BET performances ? Did that mean anything ? This is probably one of the biggest teases Atlantic Records has put forth in sometime, and fans of Jody have already indicated that when this album finally blossoms, it better be damn good. OK, enough venting. Here's the other latest scoop. The next single from the album is the pop-ballad "If I'm Not In Love". The song is produced by Phil Galdston (Vanessa Williams), and it will have dance remixes. The original version, however, is sure to be a pop hit-- it has all the ingredients to be one. Atlantic Records will need to do the rest. "If I'm Not In Love" should be released in May (but don't hold your breath). Meanwhile, Jody will continue doing promos and appearances, and we of course will keep everyone up to speed on that. |
