This is something we use to do a while back for fans. We're gonna try it again, and see how much we can handle. If you would like to send email to Jody, Visit Her Official Website. But for now let's reminisce and check out below what some fans wrote to the Queen Diva, a while back: Dear Jody, I just wanted to say that I am thrilled to finally hear your new CD. I happened to stumble upon an import copy at a store in Greenwich Village in NYC. It has taken about 2 full listens to grow on me and now I am hooked. I miss your big dance hits, but your new sound works just as good. I hope you bring back the old Jody every now and then, though. :-) I have been a fan since the beginning, at least since your debut CD. I have all the 12" singles and the Japanese import of the Love remixes. Shame on Atlantic records for not supporting you and releasing your CD despite the fact that "Off the Hook" did not become the smash hit it deserved to be, especially that kick-ass remix by D-Dot. (In fact shame on MCA for dropping you in the first place!) While shopping in Nobody Beats the Wiz today, I happened to pick up a copy of the hard-to-find single of "If I'm Not in Love" and was thrilled to see that there was a dance remix on it. Too bad we will never see a full maxi-CD release of it. Perhaps there will be a release of the single overseas that will include the full remixes? I just can't stop listening to it. Keep up the good work. Your fans will stick by you as long as you are true to yourself. Take care, Joseph Molnar josephnyc@hotmail.com ![]() Dear Jody I don't know of you will ever read this but, just in case... I have to say firstly I think the new album, Flower, is wonderful. There are some stunning tracks which would make big hits: Baby Tonight, Don't Want You Back to name just two. I am pleased, for once, to live in the UK where I was able to buy your album in the shops here. Even friends of mine, who have never heard your music before, I've played your album to just can't understand why you are not widely known over here, and why you don't have the success your music deserves. Secondly, I love the new web site design. Listen Up is 100 per cent better than it was previously. Finally, I was sorry to hear Atlantic have dropped your album. All I can say is that it is definately their loss. I sent them an e-mail to complain! Please come over to the UK soon. We never see ANY of your videos, interviews, or live appearances that have been in the US with the new album. We are desperate! With best wishes for the future, and many thanks for all your music and wonderful songs which I have listened to for the past 10 years: your music is so meaningful to life. Sincerely Paul paul.hunt10@virgin.net ![]() I'd like to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Ivan Diller and I'm a writer for "Twist Magazine," a New York-based gay/lesbian monthly publication that focuses largely on the gay club scene and all areas of music. When Jody was still with Atlantic Records, I was in contact with Chrissy Murray about setting up an interview for the magazine. At one point Chrissy called to see if I would be available to do the interview within the hour, but I was in a meeting and missed the chance. In the next few weeks following that call, I saw an interview in a "rival" magazine, HX. Needless to say, I was very sorry to have missed the opportunity. Enough time has passed since then, quite a few changes have occurred, and I would still love the opportunity to interview Jody for "Twist." My goal as a writer is to help promote the artists that I feel are incredibly talented and who have made, and continue to make, lasting contributions to music. Jody is a veteran and I would be honored to share our conversation with "Twist" readers. I may be reached via the following: (718) 931-1270 Evenings/weekends [e-mail: IDiller@aol.com] (203) 353-6646 Weedays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. [e-mail: IDiller@polk.com] I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Ivan Diller Twist Magazine ![]() Dear Jody, I caught your show at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre in Washington, DC. You were incredible. The way you performed your old hits was incredible. Im sorry to hear of your troubles with Atlantic but it is their loss not to release your album in the states. I just read about the album being released in the U. K and i will be purchasing a copy this week. Im sure its just as good if not better than your previous recordings. I am also going to purchase the single "If I'm Not In Love" also. I hope you will be performing in the states soon. I want to see you on stage again. Take care Ms. Diva Derrick ![]() Dear Jody, just to let you know what a wonderful album 'Flower' is!! It has just been released in England and it is great. Each track flows beautifully to the next. Any concerts planned? Chris xx ![]() Dear Jody, I am from St. Louis, MO and I have been a fan of yours since the days at Soul Train. Keep up the good work. Stay Healthy and Happy - In Jody we Trust!!!! Love Ya, Curtis ![]() Jody you are a unique, talented and beautiful woman. The material you've chosen over the past 5 years shows your ability to select great songs. I know you records companies have failed to promote and market your albums in the correct manner. The last three albums should have at least gone platinum. Especially, Intimacy and Affection. I listen to those albums continously. Just keep up the good work. Also, if you ever looking for a great assistant with new, fresh, and innovative ideas give me a call. You can reach me at the National Black Programming Consortium. (614) 229-4399 ext. 232. Just remember keep up the good work and make sure those marketing and promotion folks understand how market your album to the masses. If the TLC's and Spice Girls can sell millions, you can too. Peace & Love! ![]() Ms. Jody Watley I have been a true, true fan of yours and have eveything you have done all the way back to Shalamar. I think you are a beautiful, trendsetting, talented diva who deserves all the success that comes your way and more! I also enjoyed your Playboy spread. You are really "Off the Hook" I just have one question. Where the hell is your new album? I have been teased enough. I'm ready for the next Jody Watley experience. Much love, Randall Pearson pearsorl@udmercy.edu ![]() Dear Jody: I don't know how I fell in love with you, but it happened after I heard "Still A Thrill", and after all these years, you still are a thrill. I hope you continue to keep making records. You are a beautiful person, with a good heart, and I hope to see you high. From, A Fan ![]() Dear Jody, I was not only in the house at your "Larger" tour, but I was in the record stores waiting for your album the day it came in. You wudda thought I was going to win something. What it was is I had high hopes for your career. I grew up watching you on Soul Train, and wanting a woman like you. Your first two albums were simply incredibly complete. I don't know all the stuff with U and Andre, cuz I wanted (do) dig his music and your relationship. I saw a BIG picture. Anyway, history iz just that. I saw you in a free concert in Harlem a few years back. I now live inb NY, and I have my M.F.A. in film directing. I just directed Patti Austin's new work for 98. A remake of the Chantell's "Maybe". U know I want to get my work to U. I'll be sending it your way soon. My best to you and yours, including Midori. I hope ya'll r cool. LOTS OF LOVE MY LADY ![]() Hi Jody, I am a long life fan and always loved you music. I heard a rumor that you are related to a porn actress (midori). Is this true? If so, what is your relationship with her, do you support her choices? If not true, it's all over the web that you two are sisters. In all I still think you are the best, however, I would like to know if it's true. Peace and Love ![]() Good day Jody, I must say that I have always enjoyed your music. I have all your C.D.'s. And had the great pleasure to see you live in concert in Portland, OR at the Civic Center. You were GREAT!!! The main reson Iam writing is I read an artical in the Advocate that in europe there was a mix done to "When A Man Loves A Woman" so that it came out two ways. One as "When A Man Loves A Man" and the other as "When A Woman Loves A Woman". I would like to know how I could go about getting a copy of this. Iam sure it is as beautiful as the original song. If you would like I will get the exact date of the magazine if it would help. That song means a lot to me and to have it in the re-mix it would even mean even more! Thanks for the HELP! By the way when will you be on tour again? And will you be coming to Portland, OR? All my best! Tim J. Bias TJBFARMERS@aol.com ![]() Hi Jody, I'm one of your biggest fans from Massachusetts. If you get a chance e-mail me whenever you're not busy at, AdamShee Love ya always. ![]() Dear Jody! Do you have any tour plans? Yes, I hope is the answer! And would they include the "west coast" specifically southern California? I think a great place to "perform" would be the "House of Blues" in Hollywood. I have all your music, and I think your the greatest! I hope you would please consider touring in the near future! After all the greatest treat for a "die hard" fan is to see their favorite entertainer in a "LIVE" performance! Hope to see you "in concert" soon! All The Best to You Jody! Clarke Trevett ![]() Hi Jody, I'm a fan of yours from Indonesia. Got any idea where it is? I just bought your new album, the greatest hits. I used to have all your albums, i especially love Affairs of the Hearts, but I lost it when I move to my new house. Thank God now I find your greatest hits. I love your style of singing, you're so relaxed, yet so contained. You've got class, in your voice & look. I'd love to hear if there's anything new from you. Till then, Chung Hwa Chang ![]() Hey Jody, It's Mervin again. I was sad to hear your album was postponed, but I know you'd rather release the album latewr whwn it's perfect than rush into a half-finished project. You have never half-done anything and your outstanding work proves it. I am happy to hear that you're working with David Morales again. Are there any plans to work with Steve "Silk" Hurley? I think he's great too. Well, until later beautiful lady, Your #1 fan, Mervin Malone. ![]() The ganster wrappers need to be removed with real singers and entertainers. Please come back. I want to hear you in more places than my aerobic step class. I miss your presence on the radio and in the main stream. Keep up the good work. Let's get rid of the negative music of the 90's. We need Jodi and others like her to bring back the real. I own a hair salon and beauty supply store and it is difficult to play the radio with the negative music on the air waves. I find myself just buying CD's like Jodi's and others to keep the music real. ![]() hello there jody, hey do you remeber me? you pulled me up on stage at the house of blues in hollywood (feb.23,96), you also allowed me to see you back stage at he Gallexy theater (feb.24,96), anyways i thought id say i'm intending to get your new single and album as soon as it comes out. i also am hoping you'll go on tour with this album and really let your fans know your out there and stronger and more beautiful as ever. i'm exited also to see your new video and look. ever since looking for a new love...everyone has stolen your style and music. i'm definitly exited to get satuday night express. i also hope to see you in tour. i will go anywhere in california to listen and see you in concert. I't buggs me sometime that you don't get your props. when i watch vh1 or mtv...they totally disregard your major influence in the 80s trendsetting pop mucic. i hope you email me back. your real and true fan, Alvin Rentoria ![]() This is a shout out to Jody Watley, I am a one of your biggest and continuing fans. I love all your albums. Your songs inspire me to look at love, relationships, and communication in a new light with myself as well as with my lover. I especially love "Intimacy" and the way you dedicate it to "the lovers everywhere and especially for the lover in all of us." I wish you much much continued success and am happy that you are with a new label: one that should promote you the way in which you deserve. I admire your strength and determination to move forward in your personal life and career. You have been an inspiration to me and I can't wait to buy your new album. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!! Love Always, SweenyE ![]() Jody, First I would like to say I really can relate to the words of your songs, not only are you a talented artist, but you're the woman women aspire to be, I know that's a pretty heavy statement, but I have to give your props, it is through your music I've learned to how to relate to women on a emotional and spirtual level other than on a physical level. It would really be cool to sit down and talk to you about relations between men and woman and music as well. That may never happen, but it's so important to let you know the affect your music as made on me, being a young brother. Good luck with the new record. Sincerely, Kyle Phillips ![]() Jody, Hi!, This is Terri Andrews, from Kansas City. I live in Dallas now. We're having our class reunion next month and I wanted to ask you if you would attend. I know that you didn't graduate from there, but to me you are still a Southeast Knight. Please e-mail me with a reply at browni@flash.net ![]() Hey! Nice site. It's great to see people keeping the diva's fires burning even though she hasn't been on the top of the charts (where we all know she belongs). I've heard the same info that I'm sure you have about the Babyface collaborations for the new CD. I just wanted to let you know that I recently read that she is also going into the studio with Louie Vega and Kenny Gonzalez of Masters at Work fame. If their recent Nuyorican Soul project is any sign of what to expect, a joint venture between them and Jody is really gonna be tha shit!!! Just thought you might want to know. Tim Harris Tim@titanmedia.com ![]() Jody: I've been a fan of yours since you were in Shalamar I thought you should've been given the chance to sing more solos than you did. How are Lauren and Arie ? I heard about the recent passing of Jermaine Stewart; I'm sorry. I know you two were close. Is your next album due out soon? I hope so. I hope you'll be working with David Morales again. Well, take care. Your #1 fan, Mervin (Aurora). ![]() Hey wassup? Jody I just wanted you to know that I really enjoy your music and I can't wait until you drop the much anticipated album that everybody's talking about. Anyway, my question to you is...... Is Avitone Records still in exhistance? ![]() Hi Jody, I am glad you are going to be back on the scene doing what you do best.I know how strong headed you are it was in the letter you sent me about 4 years ago.I certainly hope that you can find a balance between what you want as well as what the record company wants to maintain the longevity your career deserves. The present divas have nothing on you as you very well know aside from consistent investors. As this is the second time around I hope for it to be twice as much and so much better than the first time. I hope I can get a response from you sometime. In my mext e-mail I shall discuss your unfinished business with Shalamar it's being 20 years now and it should be commemorated. Howard was't around when it all started so he doesn't necessarily have to be around now. Take good care and long may the hits roll. Kola Iluyomade(London) funkiest@msn.com. ![]() hello there jody, my name is alvin rentoria and i met you just last year in febuarey. i was the first fan you brought up on stage at the house of blues. i also met you at the orange county galaxy theater back stage were we took pictures. i was so exited to see you two days in a row. meeting you, your sister michell, and your brother john. I thoroughly enjoy your music. I have all of your recording in various format- LPs, tapes or CDs, including some extended remix versions of your music (i.e. Some Kinda of Lover, I Want You, I'm the One You Need,....). The title "Queen of Dance Music" is yours to take back, Ms. Watley. I enjoy your ballads and mid-tempo music, but it's no denying that you can turn out some funky dance music. PLEASE make this album FUNKY. REAL LOVE is my all time favorite dance song and IT'S ALL BEGIN WITH YOU is my favorite slow song that you produce. Your fans are dying for a nonstop funky CD, full of attitude, with 3 or 4 slow to mid-tempo songs. I think every song on your first solo LP could have been release as a single. Larger than Life was the bomb and more single should have been released. Affair of the Heart was an excellent album from beginning to end. No one can deny that you and Andre Cymone makes good music together. However, after Affair of the Heart was not the commercial success of your first two LPs, I was expecting Intimacy to be more like your first two albums. I did enjoy Intimacy. Affection was good CD, as well. But, I appreciate and admire the effort you put forward to release the album on your on record label. GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES. The world needs Jody Watley, The Diva back. hubbard.terrence@epamail.epa.gov ![]() Hello Jody, I've heard your new Cd is comming out... When can we expect it in Holland?
