MODELING:
Evaluate Yourself Before Jumping In
by Angie Simpson
First
steps are very critical for your modeling career and
it is very important to learn how to make those steps.
Just one mistake can destroy your career.
More
than 97% of modeling careers are finished without even
starting because many aspiring models are not serious
and not ready to enter into the modeling business. Please
understand: Starting a modeling career is like starting
a corporation under your own name!
Evaluation.
It is a very critical and sometimes a most difficult
step - you have to be honest with yourself. Look in
the mirror and ask yourself: Do I have what it takes
to be a model?
The
best scenario is if you are young, tall, slim and "beautiful",
have good teeth, a long neck and full lips. In this
case your modeling potential has no limits.
But
If your body is not slim - that could be an obstacle.
If you are not tall enough - another obstacle. If you
are not "young" - yet another possible obstacle.
And
each obstacle reduces your modeling potential and leaves
you with very narrow options. Yet some people, for example,
think that anybody can become a commercial model. But
commercial modeling still has one very important requirement
- you must have some kind of an acting talent.
So
ask yourself: What kind of modeling is good for me?
What is my market? What are my talents? What will make
a client choose me to promote their collections and/or
product lines?
Give
yourself honest answers and you can avoid many problems
and save a lot of time and money. And you will never
be a victim of scams.
What
about modeling schools and modeling conventions?
While
there are few reputable conventions and schools out
there, most of those businesses have nothing to do with
your modeling career. What's really upsetting, is that
many so-called "modeling schools" or "model
conventions" always accept models, regardless
if the model candidate doesn't have a chance in the
world to become a successful model.
How
many girls and boys have been caught by these words?
“You have been chosen!” But the truth is: EVERYBODY
WHO IS WILLING TO PAY IS ALWAYS CHOSEN BY SOME MODELING
SCHOOLS OR MODELING CONVENTIONS!
The
modeling schools are making money by selling classes.
While modeling conventions are making money if you pay
for participation in their conventions. If they were
to give honest opinions to aspiring models they would
surely loose a lot of money and could even go out
of
business. So always be careful, and research the outfit
claiming to make you the next "supermodel."
